Lufkin Regional Day School Program for the Deaf (RDSPD)

Welcome to the Lufkin Regional Day School Program for the Deaf (RDSPD). Our mission is to provide exceptional educational services to deaf and hard-of-hearing students, ensuring they achieve their full potential.

The Texas Education Agency (TEA) created Regional Day School Programs for the Deaf (RDSPDs) to provide quality services to students who are deaf or hard of hearing (DHH) in Texas. RDSPDs help meet the unique communication needs of DHH students and give them access to other DHH students and role models. RDSPDs help build capacity, provide high-quality instruction, and support the development of each child’s cognitive, social-emotional, and language skills. Enrollment in RDSPDs is based on a student’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP).

Serving Birth Through Age 21

Our program is dedicated to supporting students from birth through age 21. We recognize the importance of early intervention and continuous support throughout a child’s educational journey. From early childhood services to transition planning for adulthood, we are here to guide and assist at every stage.

Our program provides:

  • Parent-Infant Program: Early intervention services for infants and their families.
  • Site-Based Classes: Specialized classes for DHH students within Lufkin ISD.
  • Itinerant Program: Services for students instructed on their home campus by traveling teachers.

The Lufkin RDSPD serves the Lufkin Independent School District and 32 surrounding school districts. This collaboration ensures that deaf or hard of hearing (DHH) students across a wide geographical area can access the specialized services they need. The districts we serve include:
