Caring Clowns International (CCI) recently collaborated with Slack Elementary School Student Council on a fundraiser called “Change Wars.”

Hall Henderson and Scott Skelton were recognized at the April School Board meeting for their service on the Lufkin ISD School Board.

Last night, Lufkin Middle School administrators opened the front doors of the newly designed middle school to the public to witness the beautiful completion of Phase II of the bond project.  

Students and staff across the district had the opportunity to experience the Solar Eclipse with lots of learning and viewing activities.

“The board considered 43 applications, community input, two layers of interviews and reference and background checks in our extensive search for our next superintendent,” said Kristi Gay, board president. “Dr. James Hockenberry is the Board’s unanimous choice to fill this position.”

Lufkin High School senior Elias Moore was acknowledged by United States Congressmen Pete Sessions for his appointment to the United States Military Academy at West Point at a ceremony at Lufkin High School today.

New and returning members of the Elementary Honor Society were recognized today at the induction ceremony at Tom Jack Lucas Auditorium.

The Lufkin High School National Honor Society was held on Wednesday, March 20 in the Tom Jack Lucas Auditorium. Ninety-two new members were inducted into the program.

Kudos to all of the students at Coston Elementary who performed in the Winnie the Pooh Musical directed by music teacher Sarah Jackson.

“I wanted to bring awareness to theater education and the importance of theater—skills and passions that I think are involved with theater, like communication, team building, and teamwork,” Joel Hernandez said.

Launched in 1998 by the National Education Association (NEA), Read Across America is the nation’s largest celebration of reading. The NEA wants to make sure that all children have access to books.

The Citywide Track meet is for students who qualified on their home primary/elementary campus to participate in a variety of track events against other students across the district.

“When I grow up, I want to be a scientist or an astronaut,” fifth grader Bray’aunna Delane said.
