Superintendent Lynn Torres announced SreeNidhi “Sree” Kanati as Valedictorian of the Class of 2023, and Braxton Bullock, Salutatorian at the Panthers of Prestige ceremony last night at the Tom Jack Lucas Auditorium.

The fifth graders across the entire district had the opportunity to team build and have fun with one another today at the Pitser Garrison Convention Center before they all become Lufkin Panthers when they enter Lufkin Middle School on Tuesday, August 8, 2023.

The club’s values directly correlate with curriculum for social decorum, character education, life skills and money management.

“Tarsha is an excellent administrator who is ready to lead a campus,” said Lynn Torres Superintendent.

Congratulations to the seniors who received their Early College High School (ECHS) cords last night to be worn at graduation and to the new inductees beginning their ECHS career.

Six senior girls, all with a passion to learn new things, are leading the way in a pilot dental assisting program at Lufkin High School.

The C2G program is an exciting time and, for many students, their first time to be a part of a graduation ceremony. Lufkin High School students are excited to give back to their community by encouraging the Commitment 2 Graduation.

The fourth graders at Coston Elementary researched a historical character and made them come alive with costumes, informational posters and presentations to create a “live” wax museum.

Staff Sergeant (SSGT) Joel Blackmon and Captain (Capt) Tyler Vaughan, Executive Officer presented Lufkin High School senior Leonardo Osorio with the Frederick C. Branch Marine Corps Leadership Scholarship valued at $230,000.

This award is given to students who have exhibited outstanding qualities in scholastic merit, musicianship and citizenship in their school and community during the 2022-23 school year.

The kindergarten Gifted and Talented classes hosted an animal expert showcase on Friday at the Dunbar Primary cafeteria.

The Angelina Arts Alliance and its sponsors made it possible for several theater and choir students from Lufkin High School and other area campuses to work in a masterclass led by actress/singer Kristin Chenoweth.

The Lufkin ISD Administration announced that the School Board election winners are Kristi Gay and Joe Ceasar.
