Friday’s football game has been designated as one of approximately 100 featured games in the nationwide 2024 Great American Rivalry Series, highlighting the longstanding competition between Lufkin Panther Football and the Nacogdoches Dragons.
Rich history, tradition, great football, and having the best fans contributed to the selection of Friday’s match-up. We appreciate the Marines and BRAINBOX for selecting the game as part of the 2024 Great American Rivalry Series.

In anticipation of Friday’s rivalry game, Lufkin High School students are getting into the spirit with themed dress all week:
Off the field, a competitive chin-up count will drive the rivalry between schools. Both schools will start their running total of chin-ups this week during lunches, and will continue until the winner is announced at the game. Panther students and fans can stop by the Great American Rivalry tent at the entrance of the stadium to help Lufkin win the round!
