Ali Khurshid was named Valedictorian and Anisha Rao was named Salutatorian of the 2019 graduating class at the Lufkin ISD Education Foundation’s Panthers of Prestige banquet last night. The banquet recognizes the Top 20 students and their educators of influence, and this year, the event included the announcement of the Valedictorian and Salutatorian.
Ali Khurshid is planning to attend Texas A&M and major in biomedical engineering. He competed in UIL Number Sense, Calculator Applications and Science. He is a National Merit Commended Scholar and was involved in the STEM academy. His clubs include: Cubing Club, Anchor Club, KYSSED Club and Asian Culture Appreciation Club. He is an AP Scholar with Distinction and a member of the National Honor Society.
Anisha Rao is planning to attend Wellesley College in Massachusetts majoring in business/economics. She participated in UIL Spelling & Vocabulary advancing to the Regional level and Current Issues. She was a State Qualifier for Intel’s ISEF Science Fair. She was involved in the STEM Academy and the Gifted & Talented program. Her extra-curricular activities included the LHS Pantherbots Mechanical Team Captain, IGNITE Lead Executive, Drug-Free All Star, Asian Cultural Appreciation Club Co-Founder and President. She is the Secretary of the National Honor Society and an AP Scholar with Distinction.
Graduation will be Friday, May 24th at 8 p.m. at Abe Martin Stadium.
