At the Lufkin ISD board work session, architects from Goodwin-Lasiter-Strong (GLS) presented renderings of the bond projects for Lufkin Middle School, the multi-purpose facility at the high school, and the ball field complex that will also be built at the high school. The team provided detailed information on the blueprint of the projects and the overall look of the front of the buildings and fields.
The schematics were drawn up after meetings held with staff and administration and was described by architect Mark Strong as the “dream list”. There will be some modifications to correlate with the actual square footage of the building at Lufkin Middle School, but not too much.
He said, “We have some flexibility in terms of where we can make some changes.”
The board seemed very impressed with the work thus far and congratulated the architects on putting together the best look and design for the needs of the district. They also had the opportunity to see samples of floorings, paint colors, and stone to be used in the facilities.
Lufkin ISD Superintendent, Lynn Torres, said the multi-purpose facility and the ball field complex will begin construction first, but that she’s hoping to break ground on the middle school before Christmas holiday.
