dd’s Discounts has donated more than $5,500 in the past three years for Trout Primary students to have new books.
Cindy Nerren, principal of Trout Primary, said, “It has increased each year from initially about $1500, to $1800 in year two, and $2200 this year.”
The store would have a kick off day to collect donations, then they asked customers to donate to the cause when they checked out their merchandise.
Nerren, said, “We are able to gift each child a new book at Christmas, as well as give away free books to kids at our Back to School/ Meet the Teacher event and our spring Literacy Night.”
Once the money is collected, it is placed into an account with First Books. Teachers and administrators are then able to choose books to provide for the students.
Nerren, said, “We are so fortunate to be the beneficiaries of this fundraiser. Our students love getting new books and these book are beautiful, hardback books. I want to thank Mr. Flores and dd’s Discounts for this partnership.”
