Sam Raines received 1st place in Individual Carpentry at the area SKILLS USA competition. At the event, students were given a set of blueprints representing a project with multiple aspects of home building (framing, finishing or roofing). After analyzing the blueprints, the students constructed an exact replica of the project. Students in this year’s Area contest were required to layout and build a set of stairs with an attached wall.
Skills USA students can compete at the local or state level. State winners go on to the national competition: The SkillsUSA Championships in Louisville, Ky.
