Philip Callaway, a member of the Lufkin High School Choir program, received a full-fledged state send off from the students and faculty at Lufkin High School. He will perform at the Texas All-State Tenor-Bass Choir in San Antonio, this Saturday, February 17, 2018 at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center as part of the 2018 Texas Music Educators Association Clinic/Convention. Individual musicians performed selected music for a panel of judges who rank each instrument or voice part. From this ranking a select group of musicians advance from their Region to compete against musicians from other areas in eight TMEA Area competitions. The highest ranking musicians judged at the TMEA Area competitions qualified to perform in the TMEA All-State music group. Only the top 2.5% of musicians who initially auditioned become All-State musicians. These All-State students participate in three days of rehearsals directed by nationally recognized conductors during the TMEA Clinic/Convention.
