Superintendent Lynn Torres named Roxie Nash principal at Kurth Primary. Current principal, Dana Bickley, will assume the position of associate principal at Lufkin High School in the fall.
Nash graduated from Corrigan-Camden High School in 2003 and has been an educator for 13 years. In 2007, she graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University with a bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration in English, Language Arts and Reading for grades 4-8. In December of 2016, she graduated from Lamar State University with a Master of Education in Educational Leadership.
Over the years, Nash has worked in Corrigan-Camden ISD as a high school English teacher, San Augustine ISD as a fourth grade ELA teacher and in Lufkin ISD as a Pre-k 3 lead teacher. She became the Assistant Principal at Kurth Primary in 2020. Last year, she was named Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association (TEPSA) Region 7 Assistant Principal of the Year.
“Education is what I consider the equalizer of life, and I believe every student deserves the best education that prepares them for an ever-changing world,” Nash said. “I am so proud of our students, parents and staff member’s hard work and dedication to learning and I am thrilled and honored to continue serving at Kurth.”
“I am excited to be able to name Roxie Nash as the principal of Kurth,” said Superintendent Lynn Torres. “I have watched Roxie and her career. She was a great teacher at Hackney and assistant principal at Kurth. I know that she will be an excellent leader for the this campus.”
Nash and her husband, Justin, have been married for 15 years and together, they have three children, Izaiah, Genesis and Christian.
