Tarsha Henderson has been named the new principal at Trout Primary. Cindy Stewart who currently serves as principal will be the new principal at Brookhollow Elementary.
Henderson is a native of the Lufkin area with 20 years of experience in education. She is a 1991 graduate of Lufkin High School. After high school, she received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Stephen F. Austin State University in 1995 and worked as a staff accountant at Woodland Heights Hospital. She later received a master’s degree in educational leadership from Prairie View A&M in 2007.
Her educational career began at Hackney Primary, where she taught Pre-K3 students for five years. Later, she transitioned to Trout Primary teaching first grade. Then she taught fourth grade math at Brookhollow Elementary where she is currently the assistant principal. She has also worked for the past two years as the summer school principal at Burley Primary.
“I am so excited and grateful to join the wonderful staff at Trout Primary,” said Henderson. “This is where I began as a child. It seems like I have come full circle being a student, a teacher and now the principal. I truly believe all students can learn and I’m excited to work with the Trout team to help develop an enjoyment for learning at an early age.”
“Tarsha is an excellent administrator who is ready to lead a campus,” said Lynn Torres Superintendent. “I am excited that she returns to this campus as the principal after being a student at Trout. The full circle is exciting to see. I know that she will do an excellent job.”
Henderson has been married for 25 years to Eric, who is a 1990 graduate of Lufkin High School. Together, they have a daughter, Chelsea, who is a Physician Assistant student at UT Southwestern and will be graduating in December.
