Danielle Caples has been named the new Lufkin High School Cheer Coach. Caples comes to Lufkin ISD from Westbrook Intermediate/Clear Creek ISD in Friendswood, Texas.
Caples is a Stephen F. Austin State University graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies degree. For the past nine years, she has taught social studies and was even awarded Teacher of the Year. She has sponsored a state and regionally recognized Student Council and coached her Cheer team to back-to-back first place competition victories in the Intermediate Novice United Cheer Competition (2021) and Intermediate Novice iNational Cheer America Competition (2022).
“I am looking forward to being a part of the strong sense of family community the town of Lufkin offers. It is my personal goal to continue to build on the traditions of excellence in integrity, respect, and pride. I am excited about what the Lufkin cheerleaders will bring to the sidelines on game days, am looking forward to the challenge of building a competition routine with high hopes of bringing home a championship banner, and I am honored to uphold the long-standing traditions that the squad has to maintain and recognize our legacy as Lufkin Panthers,” said Caples.
Along with her duties as the LHS Cheer Coach, she will also teach business classes.

She understands the longstanding traditions of the Lufkin Cheer program and is excited to continue the tradition of excellence. As a proven leader and experience with previous cheer squads, Mrs. Caples brings passion, dedication, and enthusiasm to the Lufkin High School Cheer Program,” said Dr. Andre Emmons, LHS Principal.
Caples is married to Robby, a 1997 Lufkin ISD graduate. She enjoys the outdoors, exercising, and baking.
