The Lufkin High School Choir students competed at the UIL Texas State Solo and Ensemble contest held in Austin and earned 12 medals. Students who earned gold medals/superior ratings are Yisselle Castro, Noah Drinkwater, Kenzi Hawkins, Noel Lopez, Jessa Phillips, Anessa Rebolloso and Claudia Salazar. Students who earned silver medals/excellent ratings are Za’riyah Albro, Chelsie Dorsett, Melanie Espinoza, Zunayla McQueen and Rachel Varghese.
“I am extremely proud of these students and the work they put in to achieve these results at the State contest,” Nicole Stewart Lufkin High School Choir Director, said. “Each student had to learn a solo, many in a different language, and perform it by themselves for a judge. This year our judge was from Angelo State University, and he was very complimentary of our student’s preparation and skills.”
