Guest speaker Marquist Taylor, former Coston Cougar and LHS alumni, encouraged elementary students at Coston Elementary to be kind to others in celebration of Unity Day. Taylor is a pastor and motivational speaker.
As part of the culmination of the day’s activities, Taylor got the students revved up.
“Kindness Matters!” he had the students shout in the gym at Coston Elementary. He told the students that everyone in the room is cool.
“Teamwork makes the dream work!” was repeated after Taylor from the third, fourth, and fifth graders that sat in long rows.
He told the students that Unity Day is promoting kindness and everyone matters. He said, “Say: I MATTER!”
Taylor involved the students in activities to remind them to be kind and make friends.
The main message of the day for the students was that bullying is not ok and to tell their teacher if they experience it.
The campus had an “Orange Out” contest where the class with the most unity spirit would win.
