Superintendent Lynn Torres announced SreeNidhi “Sree” Kanati as valedictorian of the Class of 2023, and Braxton Bullock, salutatorian, at the Panthers of Prestige ceremony last night at the Tom Jack Lucas Auditorium. Sree will be attending Texas A&M University in the fall majoring in chemistry. Braxton will be attending the University of Texas at Austin majoring in government.
Sree was involved in varsity and junior varsity tennis, the STEM Academy, Ignite mentor and secretary of the National Honor Society. She was a Commended National Merit Scholar and received the National Rural and Small Town Recognition Award. She participated in UIL Mathematics and Number Sense and was a state qualifier in the Texas Science and Engineering Fair. She also earned the recognition as an AP Scholar with Distinction.
Braxton participated in debate. He was the captain on the debate team earning semi-finalist in district Lincoln-Douglas Debate, district finalist in Congressional Debate and state finalist in Lincoln-Douglas Debate. He was the founder of the Healthcare Outreach club, president of the National Honor Society and a member of the student council. He, too, earned the recognition as an AP Scholar with Distinction.
Sree is the daughter of Dr. Sudheer and Nivedita Karnati. Braxton is the son of Keith and Lisa Bullock.
Sree and Braxton will address the student body, parents, friends and family at the graduation commencement on Friday, May 26 at 8 p.m. on the John Outlaw Field at Abe Martin Stadium.
