Members of the Lufkin Panther Band performed very well earning 105 medals at the UIL Region 21 Solo and Ensemble Contest at Nacogdoches High School.
There are three classifications of literature that students can perform for solo and ensemble contest, with class 1 being the most difficult. To earn a medal, the student must receive a first division rating from the judge.
Here is the breakdown of the Lufkin High School band medal count for first division ratings:
● Class 1 Solos – 30 medals
● Class 2 Solos – 37 medals
● Class 3 Solos – 5 medals
● Class 1 Ensembles – 22 medals (22 students in six separate ensembles)
● Class 2 Ensembles – 11 medals (11 students in three separate ensembles)
