At the August board meeting, the Lufkin ISD Board of Trustees approved ESS to manage the district’s substitute program. The educational staffing firm has more than 21 years’ experience providing trained and qualified substitute personnel to school districts.
“We’re excited about this opportunity to partner with ESS. Their history of partnering with Texas school districts to increase their fill rates has been impressive. We recognize the importance of having a large, highly qualified pool of substitutes in a normal year. It’s even more pressing now in light of this pandemic,” said Dr. Spikes, Assistant Superintendent of Administrative Services.
ESS will manage the recruitment, hiring, training, and placement of substitutes for a variety of positions. The program will include training and support and flexible schedules for substitutes.
Effective October 1, 2021, ESS will officially begin managing the district’s substitute program. ESS will contact the current substitutes to offer them a position to continue working at Lufkin ISD. They will provide details for upcoming orientation meetings and provide opportunities to meet with ESS staff, ask questions, and complete the transition.
The company will have frequent hiring events where employees can speak with hiring managers and ask questions.
“Our students deserve great, caring adults in the classroom at all times (even in the absence of their regular teachers), and partnering with ESS will help us to achieve that goal,” said Spikes.
