The Lufkin ISD Young Scholars Art Exhibition was carefully crafted by the imaginations of 300 elementary students who created pieces that were inspired by exploring the works of great artists. These art pieces were developed through printmaking, sculpture, watercolor, acrylic paint and mixed media. The students involved in the Young Scholars Program participate in an initiative to enrich and enhance the student’s curiosity for knowledge in the areas of art and technology. The Young Scholars program is one example of the many opportunities provided by Lufkin ISD to maximize participation in advanced learning.
The exhibit will remain at the Museum of East Texas until May 22nd and is made possible by the I.D. and Marguerite Fairchild Foundation, Simon and Louise Henderson Foundation, Ernest L. Kurth, Jr. Charitable Foundation, and Lufkin Independent School District. Thanks to Lisa Haglund for teaching the students and organizing this venue to display the artwork in such a beautiful way.
